Spiritual Arts Institute is a non-profit offering classes, workshops, and seminars on healing and spiritual growth with special emphasis on the aura. We publishes books, CDs, manuals and other material related to metaphysics.
Metaphysics, which literally means “that which comes after the physical,” is the study of the spiritual root of physical life. In this way, metaphysics shares similar goals with other noble studies such as general spirituality, theology, philosophy, mysticism, theosophy, and ontology. This sacred undertaking follows a global tradition that goes back to time immemorial and is making a strong resurgence in modern times.
The goal of Spiritual Arts Institute is to help people from all walks of life accelerate their spiritual understanding and development. Through the various activities of the institute, it is our aim to help reassign metaphysics to its proper place in the study of life and human development and to inspire confidence, love, self-sufficiency, charity, kindness, creativity, and inner knowing in all aspects of life.
Our mission statement is: To offer clear, accurate, and understandable instruction designed to assist the soul in it spiritual evolution.
Our books, classes, and workshops are perfect for those taking their first steps down spiritual paths and longtime spiritual students alike.
Our motto at Spiritual Arts Institute is helping souls grow. All teachings the Institute offers are geared toward facilitating the spiritual evolution of each soul through the time-honored practice of metaphysics—a spiritual discipline that has successfully steered many souls in their quests for divine enlightenment.
Spiritual Arts Institute emphasizes Christ-based metaphysics sometimes called Christian mysticism or mystic Christianity. These metaphysical Christ teachings are presented in a practical, educational context, not a religious one. Our goal is to show how the Christ teachings are an essential and foundational part of metaphysical study and are not exclusive to any particular creed or religious belief system. Rather, the teachings are tools for personal and spiritual development and meant for all people who wish to better themselves.
The institute’s unbiased classes and workshops are geared to help make understandable the mystical interpretation of metaphysics in healing and spiritual development, so students can make their own decisions in incorporating these instructions into their lives. It is our position that Christ-based metaphysics is not a religion and students are free to incorporate these teachings into their own belief system or religious practice.

The New Year has started off on a very good note for Spiritual Arts Institute. We are delighted to announce that, because of people like yourself, our Fall 2009 Fund Drive was a complete success. We raised over $21,000 in contributions. Because of the success of the fund drive and despite the many challenges of last year, 2009 turned out to be the best year yet for Spiritual Arts Institute. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped. There is still much work ahead to fulfill all that the institute is meant to accomplish, but we are encouraged by your support.
As part of the goal of the fund drive, Spiritual Arts Institute will be starting a scholarship fund to help dedicated students attend classes who are in financial need. We will be sending out details about the program soon.
In addition to the funds raised, many volunteered their time and skills for our outreach program. With the publication of Reincarnation and Karma in Fall 2010, we are going to need all your help to get the word out about this new work and all that the institute does. We will be sending out information soon about what you can do to help.
We have some exiting events coming up January/February. There will be a free workshop The Healing Power of Your Aura at the Bodhi Tree Sunday, January 24 and a free teleclass Healing Relationships with the Aura February 1.
Our six-week Internet foundation course Change Your Aura, Change Your Life begins February 10. This program teaches you how to work with spiritual energy and is the key to all the training offered through the institute. We have daytime as well as evening classes.

Join us in an exciting Fall line up of classes and events. Starting September 6, we will be in Japan! Natural Spirit Publisher has invited Barbara and Dimitri to lecture in Tokyo in preparation for the Japanese release of The Healing Power of Your Aura. September 26, we are returning to Columbus, Ohio for an exciting workshop Reincarnation & Karma. Discover how you can effectively resolve karmic issues and accelerate your spiritual development. Our thanks go to Trisha and Tom Kelly at the Soul of Yoga for hosting a wonderful reincarnation event in Encinitas in August.
We will continue this issue’s theme The Coming Spiritual Renaissance at the Bodhi Tree in Los Angeles, Sunday, October 4 at 3:00pm. We are also offering this workshop in our next teleclass, Monday, October 5 at 6:30 pm PST. Both events are free and we encourage you to invite your friends. Our foundation course, Change Your Aura, Change Your Life begins October 14! This foundation program teaches you how to work with spiritual energy and is the key to all the training offered through the institute.
This August, we had our first meeting with the new Spiritual Arts Institute board which now includes A.J. Le Shay, Patricia Bowman, Mark Hafeman, John Harrison, Melinda Noble as well as Barbara and Dimitri. Our first meeting was dynamic and constructive and we are laying down the groundwork for future activities of the institute. We will be calling on you to contribute your ideas and support to help Spiritual Arts Institute reach its mission to outreach the spiritual work to as many people as we can.

This winter has marked the fulfillment of one of the primary goals of Spiritual Arts Institute – to establish its comprehensive teaching program. It has been the philosophy of the institute that quality spiritual instruction takes time. While you can become inspired and motivated with a weekend workshop, to see real long-term change in your spiritual development takes sustained effort. With the establishment of the Teacher Training Program, the full range of spiritual instruction is now available. Whether you are looking to make strong personal/spiritual improvement, to become a spiritual healer, or wishing to make metaphysics a career, these opportunities await you here at the institute.
Through these challenging times, the institute has held a steady course. Our student enrollment and book sales have remained strong and in some cases increased. This reflects the commitment and quality of those taking the courses as well as the enduring quality of the teachings themselves. It also reflects the fact that we have been able to keep our courses affordable. Many organizations charge considerably more for what they offer. We have done our best to keep tuition fees reasonable, but this has only been possible with donation support.
Donations are a key element of the institute’s success. We simply cannot function without steady public support. In 2008, donations accounted for 27% of our total revenue. Donation dollars go to four key areas: operational expenses of the institute, printing and maintenance costs of our existing titles, promoting of the institute and classes, and publishing new titles.
Many have been asking when the new reincarnation and karma book will be published. I am delighted to announce that the manuscript is finished but regret to say that we do not yet have the full funds needed to effectively produce, publish and promote the book. While 2008 was our best year yet in donations, we still fell considerably short of our needed fundraising goals. We are diligently working on a solution and will update you in our next newsletter.
The institute has some exciting events coming up in March. The Aura and Your Career follows the theme of this month’s newsletter. It will be at the Bodhi Tree in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 29 at 3pm. We are also offering this workshop in our next teleclass on Monday, March 30 at 6:30 pm PST. Our foundation course, Change Your Aura, Change Your Life begins April 15. This program teaches you how to work with spiritual energy and is the key to all the training offered through the institute.
While our next fund drive is not until the Fall, the institute needs steady donation support throughout the year. In 2008, approximately half our donations were given throughout the year and the other half during the fund drive itself. We have on our website a great feature where you can donate monthly. Simply click the recurring feature on the donation and that amount will be charged once a month for a long as you wish. The donation is made automatically and you can cancel at any time. Thank you for helping us continue to bring you quality spiritual education! You are all a vital part of this work.
The institute has been gearing up for our June fund drive to raise money for the release of Barbara’s new book on reincarnation and karma. The manuscript will soon be finished and we will need everyone’s support to get this groundbreaking work out to the world. This is a crucial time for Spiritual Arts Institute as we are stepping up all our publishing and educational programs. Please look for our announcement coming soon. We are counting on your help! As always, our goal is to give every opportunity to benefit from the wisdom and knowledge that Spiritual Arts Institute has to offer.
The theme of this issue continues with an always fresh and inspiring workshop, The Healing Power of Your Aura, at the Bodhi Tree Bookstore in Los Angeles on June 22.
Our next cycle of online classes including the foundation course, Change Your Aura, Change Your Life begins July 9! This foundation program is the key to all the training offered at the institute. We now have a daytime class for those who cannot attend the evening timeslot. We are delighted with the wonderful family of online students who are participating in these courses.
We are looking forward to several out of town events. We will be at Infinity Foundation in the Chicago area on June 28th for an exciting workshop, Enlightening the Mind, and at the New Renaissance Bookstore in Portland, OR on July 19th for a powerful workshop on The Healing Power of Your Aura. Looking ahead in September, we’re delighted to be returning to Columbus, OH for a special event September 13. Details coming soon!
