Every year on February 14th,  friends, family, and of course, lovers, celebrate the gift of love on Valentine’s Day. Though this beautiful holiday is known the world over, few are aware of it’s powerful origins.

In 270A.D., a brave and beautiful soul named Valentine was an expression of true Divine Love – selfless and unconditional. His limitless compassion and grace continues to inspire the masses. Here is the story of St. Valentine~

St. Valentine

The story of Valentine’s Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian martyr. The emperor was Claudius II Gothicus. The Christian was Valentinus.

Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship state religion’s idols, and he had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ, and not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs.

During the last weeks of Valentinus’s life a remarkable thing happened. One day a jailer for the Emperor of Rome knocked at Valentinus’s door clutching his blind daughter in his arms.

He had learned of Valentinus’s medical and spiritual healing abilities, and appealed to Valentinus to treat his daughter’s blindness. She had been blind since birth. Valentinus knew that her condition would be difficult to treat but he gave the man his word he would do his best. The little girl was examined, given an ointment for her eyes and a series of re-visits were scheduled.

Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his daughter, Julia, might also be brought to Valentinus for lessons.

Julia was a pretty young girl with a quick mind. Valentinus read stories of Rome’s history to her. He described the world of nature to her. He taught her arithmetic and told her about GOD. She saw the world through his eyes, trusted in his wisdom, and found comfort in his quiet strength.

“Valentinus, does GOD really hear our prayers?” Julia said one day. “Yes, my child, He hears each one, “he replied.

“Do you know what I pray for every morning and every night? I pray that I might see. I want so much to see everything you’ve told me about!”

“GOD does what is best for us if we believe,” Valentinus said.

“Oh, Valentinus, I do believe,” Julia said intensely. “I do.” She knelt and grasped his hand. They sat quietly together, each praying.

Several weeks passed and the girl’s sight was not restored. Yet the man and his daughter never wavered in their faith and returned each week.

Then one day, Valentinus received a visit from Roman soldiers who arrested him, destroyed his medicines and admonished him for his religious beliefs. When the little girl’s father learned of his arrest and imprisonment, he wanted to intervene but there was nothing he could do.

On the eve of his death, Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia – knowing his execution was imminent. Valentinus asked the jailer for a paper, pen and ink. He quickly jotted a farewell note and handed it to the jailer to give to his blind daughter. He urged her to stay close to GOD, and he signed it “From Your Valentine.” His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a gate that was later named Porta Valentini in his memory.

When the jailer went home, he was greeted by his little girl. The little girl opened the note and discovered a yellow crocus inside. The message said, “From your Valentine.” As the little girl looked down upon the crocus that spilled into her palm she saw brilliant colors for the first time in her life! The girl’s eyesight was restored! A miracle!

He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said that Julia herself planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave. Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship. In 496 Pope Gelasius I named February 14 as Saint Valentine’s Day. On each Valentine’s Day, messages of affection, love and devotion are still exchanged around the world.

Regardless of how love is showing up in your life right now, this is a beautiful time to let your Divine Love shine and be in the spirit of love. You are an expression of divine love in action, and the more you give love, the more you will receive.

This Valentine’s Day, call in love in a big way by mediating with the rose pink ray of Divine Love. See this beautiful, uplifting color encircling and showering upon you.

As you breath in and out, envision the deep rose pink illuminating your heart, your mind, and your soul. See it blessing all of your loved ones, and uplifting all situations in your life.

Sending you Light and Love,

“Almighty and Everlasting God, our hearts and prayers go to Japan and everyone who has been affected the by earthquake and tsunami. We ask that the healing light of God go to all the injured, the lost, the homeless and to help ease those souls who have made their transition. May the peace of God envelop all who are shaken and distress so that they may feel that God is with them always and that their fellow brothers and sisters are praying for them and ready to help in any way.

“We pray for God’s help to contain the situation at the nuclear power plant. We ask that the angels and archangels of Divine Light can contain the situation and bring everything to a safe conclusion. May the golden ray of wisdom and courage go to the leaders to help them make the right decisions and to be responsive to the guidance of the divine. May the protective light of God surround all souls who are in potential danger; to rescue workers, medical workers, and those who are working at the nuclear power plant so that they continually receive the blessings of God and the Holy Ones.

“May the love of God bless this planet as a whole, so that all the kingdoms of the earth are blessed in God’s eternal light and to bring us peace and compassion and that we may use this as a time to draw closer to God. In this hour of need, let Thy goodness and grace come shining through. Amen.”

Excerpt from Barbara and Dimitri’s book,  The Healing Power of Your Aura:

“Healing is not complete without love. love is he cornerstone of all successful healings. Spiritual healing is not an intellectual process: True Spiritual healing comes from the heart. Love connects us to God and the creative process of life. It gives you the compassion to be effective in your healing work. If you are cold and clinical, you will not gain the full benefit you seek in your healing efforts Approach your healing work with care and compassion, and results will flow much more easily.  Through love, hold to the Divine in yourself and others, and watch your healing work flow in beauty beyond compare.”

“Though the circular round-and-round of routine be the bulk of life’s affairs, make an occasional jutting diversion – of fun, love, or something that will outlast you – so the shape and motion of your life shall resemble the round lifegiving sun with bright rays shining forth from all directions.”

Q: How can the aura help when spouses begin to feel less compatible with each other?

A: As we know, there are many dynamics that go into creating and sustaining a successful marriage. Love is always number one. Without love, no marriage can sustain itself to grow and mature. Certainly we have to be adaptable and demonstrate a dedication to make the relationship work. If you feel that something is not as harmonious as it was with your spouse, the aura can most definitely help. Ask to receive the deep rose-pink ray of spiritual love in all levels of your being to release any fears, irritations or resentments that might be disturbing the relationship. Ask that the angels of love “according to divine law and love” go to your spouse so that he or she be blessed in the love ray as well. This will help you to see things from a fresh perspective and will have an elevating effect on your aura and relationship.

When we relate with other people, not only is there an exchange of thoughts and emotions, but there is an exchange of spiritual energy as well. This can most clearly be seen in our aura. In fact, there is a steady exchange of energy when we are interacting with others. This is by divine design of course. If there were no exchange of energy, we could not connect with people and our relationships would have no meaning.

As we know, our relationships are not always of the highest order. It is all too easy for anger, resentment, frustration and disappointment to set in and this disturbs the quality of our relationships. We must be very careful as an exchange of negative energy from one aura to another has a debilitating effect on the sender and the receiver. Most of the time, we’re not aware that we may be sending or receiving negative energy. Yet we’re certainly aware when an exchange with another person has left us happy or sad.

Here are a few simple guidelines to help you work with your aura in any difficult interaction with others. First recognize that the goal of any relationship is to come from a place to love. Love is the key to healing any relationship friction. So your first job is to work with the deep rose-pink ray to uplift yourself and the other person.

Second, no one has the right to step into your auric field unless somewhere you permit that to happen. This means if you are faced with a difficult relationship, you have to stand up for yourself and refuse to become a victim in any way. If you feel an exchange with another person is heading into a negative direction, see yourself in a golden bubble of protective light and silently refuse any negative energy that may be directed at you. By refusing the destructive energy, you’re helping diffuse the situation which will help all people involved. It’s also a good idea to shower your entire aura with the gold light to build more dynamic power in your dealings with others.

If you’re the one who has sent negative energy to another person, then it is a good idea to work with the white light. Ask that the white light go to that person to release any negative energy you may have sent as well as to derail the destructive effect it may have had on them. Do your best to think kindly of that person. If you find it difficult to do, reaffirm the spiritual perspective with an affirmation such as, “I let this go and put this person in God’s loving hands. I refuse to think badly about this person.” This will help avoid the transmission of any destructive energy.

We are all precious in God’s sight regardless of the mistakes we may make. Being dynamic and strong as well as loving and kind is the key to creating healthy and productive relationships.

Barbara will be teaching a special introductory workshop on The Aura of Relationships at the Bodhi Tree in West Hollywood on October 3rd. She will explore working with the aura to build more love and harmony in your interactions with others. She will also be giving aura readings to members of the audience. See you there!

It goes without saying that relationships are a huge area of our lives. How we handle our interactions with others becomes one of the most important lessons we can learn and is a key component in our spiritual growth. The dynamics of our relationships show up very clearly in the aura. There is a constant exchange of energy when we are interacting with others. By looking at the color and quality of that energy exchange, one can tell very quickly if the relationship is moving in a productive way. For example, when two people are in love and that love is genuine, there will be a wonderful exchange of pink light from one aura to the other. The exchange will be mutually enhancing to both people involved. There will also be a bubbly pink champagne energy around each aura. Something as simple as a warm hug can have a wonderful effect on the aura.On the other hand, if two people are dating, but there is little love there, the energy will shift. Perhaps the attraction is only physical, or one is jealous or possessive of the other. In these cases, the colors seen can move to a grey or vitiated red or even a dark brown indicating the disharmony, fear, anger, etc. This will have the effect of depleting rather than strengthening the auric exchange. The key energy to work with when it comes to relationships is the deep rose-pink ray of spiritual love. I don’t think there’s such a thing as getting too much of this love ray. I would use this ray in your relationships every day. It’s the ray that gives you the power to heal any type of friction or create the loving relationship you desire. Most of us know how important love is, so why can it be so difficult to express at times? Our nemesis is our own human ego. Too often, our human nature likes to hold onto its jealousies, angers and hatreds even though these are the very things that hold us back and make us suffer. To build your spiritual love flow, see others as the spiritual beings that they are. See people in the best possible light and look to the highest in others regardless of what they are showing you.We are all meant to have healthy, harmonious interactions with others. It is this loving exchange that helps carry our souls to greater spiritual heights.
