auraAs the world evolves and information is shared,  many people are asking the important question, what is enlightenment? More than any other time in history, humanity is exploring various spiritual practices in search of truth. With so many choices, it can be difficult to know what is best for you and what will really lead to the great goal of enlightenment.

The key is to have a clear picture of what the goal of spiritual development really is. The purpose of metaphysics, the study of the spiritual root of life,  is to help you reach your spiritual potential which will ultimately lead you to great goal of enlightenment.

Enlightenment is not an abstract idea, nor a vague wish or fanciful notion. It is a very real part of your life and something attainable. At the same time,  to achieve enlightenment will require all your talents, dedication and abilities to accomplish.

What exactly is enlightenment? Enlightenment means many things. It is the culmination of a long spiritual journey where many facets of human development come together as a unified whole. At its core, enlightenment is ability to connect with the God presence in you. It means you have passed from a phase of inner faith to inner knowing. You are one who is truly “communing with the divine.” An enlightened soul has reached a high level of maturity and awakened the inner sensories latent in all humans.

MetaphysicsEnlightenment shows itself unmistakably in a person’s auric field. The aura is the energetic blueprint of a person’s soul. Everything we think, feel and do registers in the aura and can be clairvoyantly seen.

As a person reaches the enlightened stage of consciousness, the aura develops glorious colors and hues.  The whole aura changes shape to a beautiful pointed oval. There is an expansive outer glow of light and power. Gold energy is strongly pronounced along with white light. With an enlightened aura, there are no dark or undeveloped areas. Every facet, from the chakras to the auric divisions, has taken on new qualities.

How do you reach enlightenment? Like any skill or art, spiritual development takes effort and training, yet the best way to start is right where you are!  Start by building up the spiritual power in your aura and consciousness with every good word, thought, act and deed. Start at home with your family and friends. Bring the divine into your finances and workplace. Every good thing you do builds up and enlightens your aura.

The steps to enlightenment are essentially the same as they have been for ages. What has dramatically changed in today’s world is that rather than being for a select group of people who were ready for the journey, millions of people are now ready. Many have had the spiritual calling. This is God, the Beloved, Universal Consciousness, knocking on our door to awaken us to our true potential.

enlightenmentEnlightenment is your destiny. Regardless of when you reach this goal, every soul on this schoolhouse earth is meant to enlighten their soul and graduate so they can go onto greater spiritual adventures. If you have had your spiritual awakening, then it is time to start paying closer attention to this part of your life.

The key is application. As you mediate and pray, pursue your potential and purpose, and meet the challenges of your life, you are building your bridge to enlightenment.

Who Is Barbara Y. Martin?

Because of her exceptional spiritual talents, Barbara is affectionately known as “the Mozart of Metaphysics.” Born with the gift of seeing the aura in all its subtleties, Barbara was one of the first to lecture in-depth on the human energy field and is one of the foremost clairvoyants and metaphysical teachers working today.

Barbara’s adventure into metaphysics began at the age of three when she started seeing auras. She saw colors and energies around her family and friends as well as around animals, trees, and plants. It was a wonderful, idyllic time where she felt very close to God. Yet her family didn’t know what to make of her. Worrying about possible physical maladies, her parents took her to doctors and gave her glasses to wear—but there was nothing wrong with her.

Her clairvoyant abilities got her into trouble many times. When an aunt was late in arriving to a family gathering, little Barbara blurted out she wasn’t coming at all because she had died in a train accident. Her parents were horrified that she would say such a terrible thing. Yet the next day, they received the telegram with the tragic news that the aunt had in fact died in a train accident. In another incident when she was four, at the end of a church service Barbara was asked to kiss the hand of the officiate archbishop. Even though the archbishop was regal and commanding, Barbara saw grotesque colors in his aura and refused to come close to the archbishop. When her mother insisted, she cried out, “No! He’s a monster! He eats children!” Barbara didn’t know why these things were happening to her or how she knew these things; they just happened. After many similar incidents, she learned to keep quiet about what she saw and experienced.

Her family moved, and at 11, she found herself in Kansas City, Missouri. There, she expressed an interest in drama and joined a well-known acting troupe headed by Dorothy LaMoss. One day, Dorothy confronted her privately, saying, “You can see the aura.” Barbara didn’t even know that what she was seeing was called the aura! Yet that day marked the beginning of her spiritual training in the art of metaphysics. It turned out Dorothy was a hermetic scientist, and she could see the aura as well. She had ancient, handwritten books that were passed on to her from her mother and grandmother. These manuscripts described the aura in great detail, along with many other facets of the spiritual world. The young Barbara spent hours with Dorothy in her studio copying reams and reams of information—information that would one day become the foundation of her teaching work. Armed with this new knowledge, Barbara now understood and could interpret what she was seeing.

 Barbara - Teenager

When she was a teenager, Barbara’s spiritual powers increased. It was at this time she began to become aware of the spiritual energy that is instrumental in changing and improving the aura. She also became aware of other facets of metaphysical world, including the ability to consciously travel to the spirit worlds. Yet, despite this intense spiritual inner life, she kept quiet about what she knew. After all, she was a teenager and was also going through the normal challenges of that stage of life. Instead, she involved herself with journalism and the entertainment business. At 19, she was producing variety shows for the USO that included such celebrities as Red Skelton, Mona Freeman, Susan Hayward, and many others.

Yet the spiritual calling continued to beckon her. As a certain point, she realized that entertainment was not her destiny in life and began a period of intense inner spiritual training. She was shown many facets of the spiritual life from firsthand experience. Barbara began having intense spiritual visions and visitations with wonderful celestial beings from the other side who instructed her in many facets of the spiritual realms. This training went on for many years.

While living in Los Angeles, she met Dr. Inez Hurd, a well-known mystic. Dr. Hurd helped prepare Barbara for the rigors of teaching and told her she would one day speak publicly on the aura and that metaphysics would become her career. This was a prophetic statement, because at the time very little was known about the aura. Eventually, Barbara found herself at a crossroads. Working in an insurance company and raising two children on her own, she had to decide if she would make metaphysics her life’s work. She had been helping people, but in an indirect way: if she saw something in someone’s aura that needed help, she would drop helpful hints. But word got out. Barbara began lecturing informally, but that soon turned into regular classes, workshops and consultations.

Thus began the career of a remarkable woman.

Her highly-anticipated new book Karma and Reincarnation: Unlocking Your 800 Lives to Enlightenment was being published by the prestigious Penguin/Tarcher. Her step-by-step self healing book The Healing Power of Your Aura has been endorsed by medical luminaries C. Norman Shealy and Dr. Richard Gerber, and the award-winning Change Your Aura, Change Your Life is now being published in 30 countries. She lectures extensively throughout the country and in Japan, appeared on national television, and has counseled numerous celebrities. She cofounded Spiritual Arts Institute, a non-profit spiritual teaching and publishing organization based in Los Angeles. Barbara has taught literally thousands of people how to better their lives by working with the aura and spiritual energy.

Today, over forty years later, Barbara continues to be at the forefront of metaphysics, writing books, teaching and lecturing. She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Every year on February 14th,  friends, family, and of course, lovers, celebrate the gift of love on Valentine’s Day. Though this beautiful holiday is known the world over, few are aware of it’s powerful origins.

In 270A.D., a brave and beautiful soul named Valentine was an expression of true Divine Love – selfless and unconditional. His limitless compassion and grace continues to inspire the masses. Here is the story of St. Valentine~

St. Valentine

The story of Valentine’s Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian martyr. The emperor was Claudius II Gothicus. The Christian was Valentinus.

Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship state religion’s idols, and he had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ, and not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs.

During the last weeks of Valentinus’s life a remarkable thing happened. One day a jailer for the Emperor of Rome knocked at Valentinus’s door clutching his blind daughter in his arms.

He had learned of Valentinus’s medical and spiritual healing abilities, and appealed to Valentinus to treat his daughter’s blindness. She had been blind since birth. Valentinus knew that her condition would be difficult to treat but he gave the man his word he would do his best. The little girl was examined, given an ointment for her eyes and a series of re-visits were scheduled.

Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his daughter, Julia, might also be brought to Valentinus for lessons.

Julia was a pretty young girl with a quick mind. Valentinus read stories of Rome’s history to her. He described the world of nature to her. He taught her arithmetic and told her about GOD. She saw the world through his eyes, trusted in his wisdom, and found comfort in his quiet strength.

“Valentinus, does GOD really hear our prayers?” Julia said one day. “Yes, my child, He hears each one, “he replied.

“Do you know what I pray for every morning and every night? I pray that I might see. I want so much to see everything you’ve told me about!”

“GOD does what is best for us if we believe,” Valentinus said.

“Oh, Valentinus, I do believe,” Julia said intensely. “I do.” She knelt and grasped his hand. They sat quietly together, each praying.

Several weeks passed and the girl’s sight was not restored. Yet the man and his daughter never wavered in their faith and returned each week.

Then one day, Valentinus received a visit from Roman soldiers who arrested him, destroyed his medicines and admonished him for his religious beliefs. When the little girl’s father learned of his arrest and imprisonment, he wanted to intervene but there was nothing he could do.

On the eve of his death, Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia – knowing his execution was imminent. Valentinus asked the jailer for a paper, pen and ink. He quickly jotted a farewell note and handed it to the jailer to give to his blind daughter. He urged her to stay close to GOD, and he signed it “From Your Valentine.” His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a gate that was later named Porta Valentini in his memory.

When the jailer went home, he was greeted by his little girl. The little girl opened the note and discovered a yellow crocus inside. The message said, “From your Valentine.” As the little girl looked down upon the crocus that spilled into her palm she saw brilliant colors for the first time in her life! The girl’s eyesight was restored! A miracle!

He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said that Julia herself planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave. Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship. In 496 Pope Gelasius I named February 14 as Saint Valentine’s Day. On each Valentine’s Day, messages of affection, love and devotion are still exchanged around the world.

Regardless of how love is showing up in your life right now, this is a beautiful time to let your Divine Love shine and be in the spirit of love. You are an expression of divine love in action, and the more you give love, the more you will receive.

This Valentine’s Day, call in love in a big way by mediating with the rose pink ray of Divine Love. See this beautiful, uplifting color encircling and showering upon you.

As you breath in and out, envision the deep rose pink illuminating your heart, your mind, and your soul. See it blessing all of your loved ones, and uplifting all situations in your life.

Sending you Light and Love,
Barbara Y. Martin and Dimitri Moraitis
